Raspberry Blender Frozen Yogurt

Raspberry Blender Frozen Yogurt

With beach weather here in full force I’m constantly looking for some healthier upgrades to our typical splurges, and this one-step Raspberry Blender Frozen Yogurt is so simple and super satisfying.  And when dessert is healthy enough to be a breakfast you know you’ve made it in this world.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I fully support eating the occasional ‘real’ ice cream and do just that on a regular basis.  With zero guilt might I add.

On that note, we don’t use the word junk food in our home.  We talk about “sometimes foods” and “everyday foods”.  I saw Charlie watch me eat a few BBQ Kettle Chips last night (yes, that’s right, chips) and I instantly became aware of how my own attitude and language surrounding food will shape his own as he grows.

He had just finished telling me that he was no longer going to eat any sweets.  In many ways I was really proud of him, but in the same breath I wanted to take the opportunity to talk about the importance of having a healthy attitude toward food.

I enjoyed a few chips (something I do about twice a year), put the bag away, and explained to him that it is ok to eat something that you really enjoy for the sake of enjoying it. Without feeling bad about it. And that doing so in moderation is totally ok.  I could see him process the information and we moved on.  My point is that it can all fit, and giving yourself permission to truly enjoy something that is indulgent is one of life’s gifts.

Oh yes, so back to this frozen yogurt.  I was shocked at how easy this frozen yogurt was to make and how much we all LOVED it!  And if you’re lucky enough to score garden-fresh berries… even better!

Happy summer!

Raspberry Blender Frozen Yogurt

Frozen yogurt is our favourite treat and is SO easy to make!  Using frozen berries is a shortcut to getting an instantly thick frozen yogurt.  You can use any type of frozen berry you wish - my favs are strawberries and raspberries!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups frozen berries sliced strawberries or raspberries work well
  • 1 cup plain full-fat Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Put all of the ingredients in a food processor and pulse until smooth and creamy. Alternately, blend in a high speed blender using the tamper to push the ingredients down on medium speed until smooth (I used a Vitamix).

  2. Eat immediately if you like it soft, otherwise place in another container and freeze for 30-60 minutes to allow it to firm up and serve.
