Charles Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a fabulous way to start the day, but packaged varieties contain SO much added sugar. Skip the store-bought! This recipe is my son Charlie's all-time favourite, and has the perfect apple cinnamon sweetness.

Ingredients

  • 5 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups large flake oats
  • 3 cups diced peeled apple
  • 3/4 cups raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Bring the water and salt to a boil.  Add the oats, apple, raisins and cinnamon and cook over medium heat for approximately 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Serve with a sprinkle of brown sugar or maple syrup and your favourite milk.
