My biggest bathroom renovation regret? White grout on small tile (in a BIG space)😩

I was warned. Multiple people told me it would be a nightmare to keep clean. And did I listen? Absolutely not. I fell in love with the hexagon marble penny tile and thought “how bad could it really be?”

The answer is: VERY bad.

The tile itself? Still obsessed. The white grout? My arch nemesis. If I could go back, I’d choose literally any other grout color and save myself hours of futile scrubbing on my hands and knees trying to keep it looking ‘fresh’.

So here’s my PSA: if you’re considering small tile for your bathroom floor, learn from my mistake and skip the white grout. Future you will thank me 😅

Charles and I have gone to couples counselling on and off for years.

Sometimes we book a few sessions when something feels heavy. Sometimes it’s just a check in when things are starting to feel tense. We’ve learned the hard way that letting things simmer quietly never ends well. Resentment doesn’t disappear on its own. It just waits.

What counselling has given us isn’t a perfect marriage. It’s perspective.

When you have a neutral person in the room (ours is Henry), you start to see what’s underneath the reaction. The armour softens. You realize you’re not enemies. You’re two people who both want to feel heard and safe.

Assuming positive intent sounds simple. But it’s not. Especially when you’re tired, stressed, or stuck in your own narrative. But choosing to believe your partner isn’t out to hurt you literally changes everything.

For Charles and I, marriage has been the daily decision to act in ways that move us toward each other instead of away. I mean, most of the time. We have our days lol.

Getting help doesn’t mean something is completely broken. Sometimes it just means you care enough to protect what you’ve built.

I’d love to see more openness around this - why the stigma? If you’ve ever considered it, this is your gentle nudge.

Let’s normalize strengthening our marriages the same way we strengthen everything else in life. Like protein ....for marriage?!

For years, I equated busy with productive. Every single minute… filled. Every box checked. It looked good on paper. But my friends… it felt exhausting in real life.

Turns out the answer wasn’t doing more (my business coach called me out years ago that I have a habit of equating value with volume, and I can’t unhear that). What I needed was a better rhythm that gave me a chance to actually breathe. Go figure.

Small pauses throughout the day.
Fresh air in the mornings.
Putting pen to paper instead of a screen to my face first thing.
Elevating everyday moments instead of waiting for “someday.” (fancy perfume, I’m looking at you)
Coming back to the table with my family.
