80% of New Year’s resolutions don’t stick.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not because women don’t care.
Not because they lack willpower.
But because real life doesn’t magically calm down in January.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The schedules stay full.
The mental load stays heavy.
And our health quietly becomes the thing that keeps getting pushed to “later.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a dietitian I’ve spent over 25 years watching women try again and again to “do it right.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
New plans. New rules. New promises.
And just as many feelings of failure when it inevitably falls apart.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not because they’re incapable. But because most diets were never designed for real life in the first place. They were never designed to work for the long haul.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve watched smart, motivated, deeply caring women blame themselves when something that was never sustainable stops working. And honestly? It’s hard to watch.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most women don’t need another ‘detox’, cleanse, or set of rigid rules. They need structure that supports them instead of controlling them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Evidence-based guidance that fits into full lives.
Clarity that quiets the noise.
Support that builds confidence instead of guilt.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s what I’ve been quietly working on and building.
Not a diet.
Not a quick fix.
A way of living that actually lasts.

The ring reveal. Tell me, did you guess right?

My hands sure don’t look the same as they did when we first said “I do.” They’ve lived a lot of life since then... raising kids, building a business, creating a home, and everything in between. I love that they tell that story now.

Leading up to this I thought a lot about what new rings meant to me; it took me 3 years to replace them after I lost them (whoops).

It boils down to one thing. Day after day, we keep choosing each other. Not in some big dramatic way; just in the small, ordinary ways that add up over time.

Watching my parents navigate this stage of life together has been one of the most grounding reminders of what true love really is. Showing up. Staying. Choosing each other, especially when things aren’t easy.

Thank you @parisjewellerscanada for making our second “I do” feel so thoughtful and special. The kindest team, and an experience I’ll never forget.

And no, I won’t be taking these off anytime soon. 😅

After losing my wedding ring 3 years ago (iykyk 😭), Charles and I decided it was finally time to get ourselves some replacements.

The team at @parisjewellerscanada were absolutely incredible and were so patient while they helped us find our dream rings. We had the best time shopping together. Charles chose his ring in about five minutes. Shocking no one.

Me? I tried on everything. So many beautiful options, but one felt different the second I put it on.

A great focaccia comes down to two things: technique and truly good olive oil. This Christmas Tree Focaccia uses fresh rosemary to create a simple festive design, but the real magic is the olive oil that gives the focaccia its soft, pillowy texture and that irresistible crisp bottom.

Save this one... it’s so simple to make and is the holiday focaccia EVERYONE will ask for (and that’s a promise).

Christmas Tree Focaccia🎄✨
Serves 12

Ingredients
1 1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 Tbsp sugar
1 Tbsp active dry yeast
1/2 c. Filippo Berio extra virgin olive oil (divided)
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 1/4-1/2 c. flour
7 sprigs fresh rosemary
1-2 tsp. flaked sea salt

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the sugar in the water. Sprinkle in the yeast, stir and let it sit until the yeast starts to ferment, around 10 minutes. Add the salt, 1/4 c. of olive oil, and 3 c. of the flour. Stir together with a wooden spoon and transfer to a well-floured flat surface. Knead for approximately 5 minutes, until it’s smooth and stretchy, adding more flour as needed if the dough becomes too sticky.

2. Place the ball of dough in a large bowl coated with olive oil, cover the bowl with a clean dish towel, and place in a warm draft-free area until doubled, about 1 hour.

3. Punch the dough down to deflate the dough.

4. Grease a 9×13” baking dish with ¼ c. of olive oil.

5. Stretch the dough out with your hands to fit the baking pan, cover with the dish towel and let it rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.

6. Preheat the oven to 400 F. Using your fingertips, poke multiple holes into the surface of the dough. Drizzle the top of the dough with olive oil, sprinkle with the flaked sea salt and arrange the rosemary in a tree pattern. Bake for around 25 minutes, until golden brown.

Okanagan Affogato…🍷🍨

What you’ll need:

Vanilla ice cream (get the good stuff)

Port or fortified red wine (mine was from @poplargrovewinery)

To serve, pour a generous splash of port or fortified red wine over a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Serve it in coupe glasses tied with a bow for a pretty presentation.

🎀 2 minutes, 2 ingredients, and such an elegant finish. Who’s ready to try this?
