The cat is out of the bag: I colour my own hair! I can’t even begin to tell you how much money I’ve saved over the years by colouring my own hair at home, AND it’s so easy! I’m excited to show you all of my secrets very soon! But in the meantime, let’s talk about those peekaboo grey hairs that appear between colourings and how to hide the grey roots.
I LOVE being 40. Seriously. Ok, I had a couple of weeks of shell-shock contemplating my new age before I hit the milestone. But I’ve found a new sense of self-assuredness in this new decade and I am owning it. However, if I’m going to be honest, one thing that I’d rather not flaunt (yet) is grey hair.
Grey hair isn’t new to me: I got my first grey when I was 34 years old. But now that I’m 40, it’s not just one or two grey hairs that I’m dealing with (I would pluck them, but bald isn’t the look I’m going for). Since life gets super busy with two bambinos, building a house, writing a cookbook and managing a business, I need a quick and easy solution to help me hide the grey hair between my at-home colours.
Now, I’ve honestly tried about 4-6 different root touch-up and dry shampoo products with varying success. Most of the time they leave a powdery white finish or leave my hair looking dull and lifeless. Do you know what I’m talking about?
I’m a big fan of the new Root Retoucher by Schwarzkopf: it is SO easy to use with a precision nozzle that lets me spray it only where I need it for full non-powdery coverage of my grey hair that completely matches my shade. I can spray it on in mere seconds and race out the door (in my usual fashion, sigh, I’m always running without blinking an eye)! Here’s a video to show you just how EASY it is!
