Summer is here and we are spending more time playing outside and enjoying the great outdoors! While I am absolutely in love with this time of year, it’s also a time where our feet can take a beating. Long walks outside, bare feet in the sand, and hours playing with the boys means my feet can get a little dry… enter this Lavender Foot Scrub!
Around the holidays we created a pretty Pink Peppermint Body Scrub and it has been a staple in my bathroom (and some of yours) ever since. Looking at a garden full of lavender I knew I wanted to put a summer spin on this simple DIY beauty recipe! It takes less than 5 minutes to put together, and your feet will thank you.
Ways to Invest in Self Care
I think it’s so important to take some time out of our days just to focus on ourselves. Somedays that may be taking 2 minutes to enjoy your coffee by yourself (preferably hot lol), or other days you may find a few extra minutes to squeeze in reading a book. Taking care of ourselves doesn’t always hit the priority list, but is SO important. For more self-care ideas check out this Mommy Time Out Jar.
We tried this with both fresh and dried lavender and let me save you the ingredients, only use dried lavender in this! The moisture in fresh lavender throws off the scent for some reason. If you want to use lavender from your garden, dry it before using or just skip the dried lavender if you don’t have it. The addition of the lavender essential oil that we picked up from the Okanagan Lavender and Herb Farm is what really adds the bulk of the lavender aroma!
This scrub also makes the cutest little gift to say you’re thinking of someone. The ingredients are inexpensive and it’s the small things that can really brighten someones day! There’s nothing better than something homemade, right? We’re focusing on spreading love and kindness these days and I have a few girlfriends who I know would appreciate this reminder to take some time for themselves.
What are the Health Benefits of Lavender?
We loved using the Epsom salts for the additional bit of texture that helps make this foot scrub more exfoliating, but you could use sub regular salt if desired. The fragrance from the oils of the lavender plant is believed to help promote calmness, reduce stress, anxiety, and possibly even mild pain.
I hope you love this as much as I did!
