We’re building a new home (no not for us)… and I’m not exaggerating when I say it might be my favourite one yet.

Right now I’m deep in the fun part… designing the inside. This basically means I’m living on Pinterest and sending Charles an alarming number of inspiration photos.

Honestly it’s taking everything in me not to pack my bags (and by bags I mean many bags… I’m not a carry-on type of girl) and move right in.

Rewiring your house to install a custom art light? Expensive. This $40 @betterhomesandgardens one from @walmartcanada ? Priceless.

Truly nothing compares to the feeling you get when you can look your husband dead in the eye and say, “I installed it myself.”

Moral of the story: you don’t need a full renovation to get that custom look. Sometimes you just need good lighting… and a screwdriver.

Being a boy mom is not what I expected.

I expected loud. I expected wild. I expected mud on everything.

And yeah, it is... but it’s also this quiet protectiveness I didn’t see coming. Big feelings. Random hugs for no reason. Deep conversations right after wrestling matches. Fierce love .... and a grocery bill that honestly feels like a personal attack 😅

But most of all? It has softened me in ways I never expected.

Would you believe me if I told you this was the same house?

When Charles and I bought this place, it was a “this has serious potential” situation. It was a MAJOR project but we love this home we’ve built. ❤️

It’s taught us what we loved, what we’d do differently, and what’s worth the splurge.

Fast forward many years and now we build high end spec homes for @cwpersona with way more confidence (and a much better understanding of functional grout colours).

$Why is styling throw pillows so challenging? Here’s my go-to tips for making it a little easier: 🛋️ Change out your throw pillows or put on a different pillow cover. This instantly makes your couch feel new, but without the price tag of actually buying a new couch. Charles fully approves of this message, lol. 😅 🤍 Add a textured throw. Layers breathe life into your pieces and make the whole room feel softer and more finished. ✨ Pick a colour palette you are loving and play with it. I am leaning into light blues and straw tones for that spring is coming energy. And do not be afraid of pattern, too symmetrical can look a little… well, stiff. Bonus tip: I try and just shop for covers and use the same inserts each season. That way it’s way less to keep in storage!
