The lovely and talented Laurence from FleuRich Creations and I got together to create some Fresh Flower Wreaths in time for Mothers Day! I’m sharing some of the tips I learned from her, as well as how to get one for yourself (and your mama)! This is quite simply the most beautiful thing to grace my front door!
If you know me at all by now, you know I adore flowers. Even more-so, I love arranging flowers! It is a creative, relaxing space for me – my kinda meditation! So any chance I have to sit down with a pro like Laurence, I take it! Laurence and I both share a serious love for all things French and are both busy working mothers. It felt so nice to connect with her and create something so beautiful. The last time we hung out (virtually) she shared how to make a gorgeous Spring Basket Arrangement!
About Laurence & FleuRich Creations
Since we last had her on the blog, Laurence has since grown her business and now holds a permanent spot in Better Earth & Gardens! FleuRich is a floral design company based in Kelowna, British Columbia, that offers stunning weekly floral arrangements (floral subscription = the greatest invention ever), full-service florals for weddings and elevated seasonal floral workshops. In light of the current restrictions her online tutorials are a GREAT way to get creative at home until we can do workshops in person. Learn more about them here.
More Sustainable Floral Arrangements
Laurence has shared with me a lot about her passion for sustainability within her business. For those who don’t know, traditionally florists use floral foam – but guess what….floral foam is non-biodegradable, non-recyclable and toxic for both humans and animals. A typical piece also contains about the same plastic as 10 shopping bags. Being a part of a greener solution in her industry is important for Laurence, so she uses fresh moss and sturdy greenery instead to hold her designs in shape. I LOVE her approach so much and think it’s important to share her message.
How to Make a Fresh Flower Wreath
Laurence has a beautiful kit (if you are local) and tutorial (which you can do anywhere in the world!) on her site that helps guide you through making a wreath of your own. Basically in my opinion this is the BEST gift for you and mom or friends, because you could do it together OR miles apart. Her DIY’s are all made with simple accessible items, something Laurence knows is important for everyone!
Wreath Greenery Tips
Without foam, it is important to pick the right choices to offer stability to the wreath! Laurence brought with her gorgeous boxwood, lemon leaf and olive branches. She recommends choosing greens that dry well to help it last longer as it dries out. Sturdy greens help along with adding in the floral tubes (reusable). We used (my favourite) silver dollar eucalyptus along with olive branches, salal leaves and a couple others for the foliage that we stuck in the moss-covered rattan wreath.
How to Preserve a Fresh Floral Wreath
Using floral tubes filled with water, we added flower accents throughout the body of the wreath. To stretch the life as much as possible, you can spray your moss and wreath every so often and also soak the wreath a week after making it (remove the flower tubes first) for an extra boost.
How to Hang a Wreath on Your Door
So many of you have asked me so I knew I had to share! I use 3M Command Hooks! I use them all year round and they works so great. I keep the back hardware on all year long (you can’t even see it) then clip in the hooks when I want to hand a wreath and hang!
I just adore Laurence and love seeing her feed full of all things floral on Instagram! Give her a follow and head to her website to learn about her tutorials, services, subscriptions and more!
xx
