I gave my husband Charles’ office a much needed refresh! It’s the perfect moody and sophisticated workspace for him. It’s time to show you my husband home office makeover!
Charles (my husband) works from home part of the time, and needed a more functional work space- one he actually wanted to spend time in, and simply: a place for himself! Well, the proof is in the pudding… he basically lives in this room. This space is the perfect husband hideaway – sorry, I mean OFFICE!!
Before & After Hone Office Makeover
I love a before and after, don’t you?! The space really went from ‘blah’ to ‘beautiful’!
Home Office Paint Colours
I actually let Charles take the lead for the paint for this space. I mean it is his space after all, and with all the time he will spend in there, ensuring he loves it was a must! We went with Battleship Grey by Behr (N360-4).
Home Office Furniture
All of the furniture in this space is from Urban Barn! I went with more masculine pieces for him, and brought in dark wood tones, rattan, leather…
Home Office Decor
It’s all in the details, and some personalized decor is a must for any office space. If you went into my office right now, you would be greeted with pictures of those I love most! For this space, I framed up some of our favourite family photos to be on display in a few different places. I also added some (much needed) warmth with an area rug, a couple artificial plants (I love olive plants; great for a space with low light), and both a floor and table lamp as there is no overhead lighting. I also found an antique spritzer in his keepsake box and some old books from his dad. Super cozy and sentimental.
Charles’ Favourite Things
I went right to the man himself to get the scoop. Here are his favourite things about the space:
- The ‘bar”: We used a cane cabinet as a twist on a bar cart, to give him both some great hidden storage and a usable space to display some photos and his favourite bottle of whiskey of course!
- The comfy corner leather chair: This chair inspired the whole space, quite frankly. If you have the space to do it, adding a comfy additional seat in your home office provides a lovely space to be able to switch things up during the day for yourself or for someone stopping in for a visit. Like me, checking in on my hubby during the day.
- The wall colour: If you know me, you know 99.9% of my home is BM Simply White. Charles chose Battleship Grey by Behr (N360-4) and I love it! I nearly had a heart attack when he started putting it on, but I’m now officially obsessed.
I actually asked Charles what he would change about this makeover, to which he replied: floating shelves and more storage! Oh and a secret passage to a hidden cave. Right. So, you heard it here folks! Don’t forget about storage (we all underestimate the amount of ‘stuff’ we have).

What an amazing make over, great masculine touches glad that you let Charles decide on the paint color so calming.
Such a peaceful workplace, the desk is so dark and bold, and the leather chair area is so relaxing

The reno looks awesome. Per Charles request, are you planning on adding some floating shelves or some type of storage unit. If so, post some pics!
