If you’re dreaming of a mountain escape that blends adventure with luxury, Whistler delivers on every front. From world-class skiing to sun-soaked summer hikes and everything in between, this iconic BC destination offers something for every kind of traveller. One of our favourite ways to experience it all? Staying at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, where comfort meets alpine charm year-round.

How to Get to Whistler
Getting to Whistler is part of the adventure, with scenic views that start the moment you hit the road. Located about two hours north of Vancouver, the drive along the Sea-to-Sky Highway (Highway 99) is one of the most breathtaking routes in Canada.
Here are a few ways to get there:
- By Car: The most popular option! Rent a car or drive from Vancouver for flexibility and photo ops along the way. Make sure to stop at Shannon Falls or Brandywine Falls if you have time.
- By Shuttle or Bus: Several companies offer daily shuttles from Vancouver Airport (YVR) or downtown Vancouver directly to Whistler Village. It’s comfortable, scenic, and stress-free.
- By Private Transfer: Ideal for groups or special occasions, private car services can take you straight to your hotel in style.
- By Air: In the summer months, floatplane service is available from downtown Vancouver to Whistler—hello, bucket list moment!
Where to Stay in Whistler: Fairmont Chateau Whistler
For me, there is only one spot to stay. We love spending time in Whistler and the award-winning Fairmont Chateau is nothing short of amazing! Incredible restaurants, luxurious mountain views, newly renovated rooms, and don’t get me started on the pool and spa. The fact that you can swim from the inside out (and order epic poolside drinks as the snow falls on your head) was the highlight for us!
A stay at this property makes the entire trip for us!

Fairmont Gold at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler
If you plan on staying at a Fairmont property you should consider staying Fairmont Gold. It is the most effortless way to travel, and such a treat! A private concierge and a cozy lounge with easily accessible food and drinks? Such a dream! Plus, the staff and customer service are totally world-class. They really make you feel both at home and like royalty at the same time.

Things to Do in Whistler
Whistler has something for everyone! There are countless outdoor activities, the Peak 2 Peak Gondola, unbelievable restaurants (I can attest to this!), shopping, and a pedestrian-only village to stroll around in. Whatever adventure you crave, they’ve got it. It’s truly magical ANY time or season of the year.
- Ride the Peak 2 Peak Gondola: Soar between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains with 360° views—perfect for sightseeing, even if you’re not skiing or hiking.
- Hit the Slopes (or Trails): With some of the best skiing and snowboarding in North America, winter is a dream here. In warmer months, swap your skis for mountain bikes or hiking boots.
- Relax at the Scandinave Spa: Just a few minutes outside the village, this Nordic-style spa offers outdoor hot and cold pools in a forest setting—pure magic.
- Explore the Pedestrian-Only Village: Wander through Whistler Village with its boutique shops, art galleries, cafes, and live street performances. It’s charming in every season.
- Dine Like a Local: From cozy après-ski eats to fine dining, Whistler has an incredible food scene. Don’t miss spots like Araxi, Alta Bistro, or a laid-back patio lunch at The Mexican Corner.
- Zipline, Snowmobile, or Paddleboard: Looking for thrills? Choose your adventure—ziplining through the trees, snowmobiling across snowy landscapes, or paddleboarding on a glacier-fed lake.
Enjoy my friends!
