Some people drink coffee, others drink tea. I’m a tea drinker. Don’t get me wrong, I won’t pass up a killer cappuccino, but tea is my beverage of choice. I fell in love with chai tea when I started working at the Tomato restaurant in Vancouver. The incredible ladies in the back would whip up the most amazing authentic chai tea, which we would sip all day long. I swear that was half of the reason I stayed working there for so many years.
This smoothie combines the amazing taste of chai tea with healthy almond milk, almond butter, dates and banana. I gave my two year old a sip and he had one word: ‘yum’. I agree! This smoothie serves two.
Ingredients:
- 2 Tbsp. almond butter
- 10 ice cubes
- 1 cup strong brewed chai tea, chilled (I used 2 tea bags)
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/8 tsp. cinnamon
- dash each of nutmeg, cloves and allspice
- 5 dates (without pits)
- 1 frozen banana, cut into chunks
Directions:
Put everything in a blender and blend until frothy, smooth and perfect!

I love avocado in my smoothies – not as sweet but you still get that rich flavour!
