If there was ever a time for us to focus on our health, this is it. We’ve rounded up our favourite HEALTHY St. Patrick’s Day recipes to share with you to help nourish your families for this holiday… and still have fun!
This month St. Patrick’s Day… and it is also DIETITIAN’S MONTH in Canada! If there was ever a time to eat your greens, this is IT! Our health is so incredibly important – the current situation of the world is evidence that it is in fact THE most important thing.
From cozy recipes like my Irish Soda Bread to those on the healthier side like this Kale Refresher, we’ve rounded up the ultimate healthier recipes to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. If you have trouble getting your kids to eat greens throughout this year, now’s your opportunity to make things a little fun and festive to sneak them in!
If you’re looking to take your St. Patrick’s day up a notch we created this classy St. Patrick’s Day Fraîche Table last year. It’s your complete guide to hosting with a printable dinner menu, guide to florals, and even a work-back schedule to make it all doable! We were so impressed with how it turned out and the menu is full of delicious comfort food.
Healthy St. Patrick’s Day Recipes
Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothie
You guys – this smoothie tastes like the real deal (my fav ice cream EVER) and is so healthy!
Kale Refresher
If you’re looking for a break from booze this St. Patrick’s day or want to start your day off green, this kale refresher is packed vitamins and antioxidants. It’s one of the best spring drinks I’ve had… you can almost hear your body say ‘thank you’ when you drink it!
Green (Avocado) Egg Salad Sandwich
Avocado replaces all (or some, your choice) of the mayo in this traditional sandwich to make it green, creamy, and oh soooo good!
Rainbow Fruit Salad
Something so simple but soooo cute and healthy! Make a rainbow out of your fruit salad by layering the ingredients in the rainbow colours – the kids will be over the moon!
Green Smoothie
For a zippy version of a green smoothie (half way down the page in the linked post) has apple and ginger in it, and is so refreshing and super healthy. A staple on any day, the kids absolutely love this other more kid-friendly green smoothie and it’s the perfect way to kick off your St. Patrick’s day!
Rainbow Smoothie Popsicles
Simply layer (and freeze between layers) rainbow colour smoothies – ok, so this one is a bit of work lol. But how cute?
Rainbow Roasted Veggie Sandwich
I LOVE this sandwich – it’s FULL of healthy ingredients and tastes sooooo good!
Spanakopitas
These delicious spinach pies are soooo good and the kids love them! Don’t worry about getting them perfect, I like them all rustic! Serve with a tzatziki sauce and you have a perfect green lunch or dinner.
Potato Cheddar Waffles (vegan option)
I’m crushing so hard on these savoury waffles – such a nice change and a great way to use up leftover mashed potatoes!
Beer Bread
This quick bread is a family favourite that I’ve been baking since I was a kid!
Green Gazpacho
A refreshing spring dish, this green gazpacho is another simple recipe that is packed with fibre and nutrients. It comes together easy in a blender and gets a little bit of creaminess from plain greek yogurt. I LOVE this chilled soup so much! Try out my favourite guacamole recipe if you’re looking for another simple green appy!
Irish Cheddar Herb Soda Bread
A more indulgent recipe, this bread makes an appearance in our house only a few times a year. This version is packed with savoury cheese and I can guarantee it will make your house smell absolutely amazing. I came up with a vegan version as well that is a crowd pleaser.
Potato Broccoli Soup
A classic, this potato broccoli soup get’s a little festive touch from some shamrock croutons. I’ll be making this on repeat here – like a hug in a dish.
Shepherd’s Pie
A comfort food classic, I couldn’t think of a better dish to cozy up to on St. Patrick’s Day. Try out this killer lentil version if you prefer.
Green Goddess Avocado Pasta
The avocado in this recipe not only makes it green but also makes for such a creamy pasta sauce! Such a fun and healthy hack!
Avocado Lime Nice Cream
Moving onto the sweeter side, we created this Avocado Lime Nice Cream last year and it is so delicious! Not only is it light and refreshing, it’s possibly the easiest ice cream you’ll ever make.
Vegan Irish Cream
This recipe was originally created for the holiday season but what a perfect time to pull it out again!? This homemade vegan Irish cream has a coconut milk base and is perfect for entertaining
Happy HEALTHY St. Patrick’s Day to you all!
