A taste of summer to start your day! This Cherry Amaretto Smoothie is so refreshing. It tastes like a fancy dessert in disguise!
I love smoothies ALL year long, but they feel extra on point in the summer. This cherry smoothie is a sure-fire way to get a jump start on your morning. Use fresh seasonal cherries (frozen works too!) if you can get your hands on them. We are so fortunate to have a cherry tree in our back yard so let’s just say this smoothie is on repeat!

If you want to browse the whole lineup of smoothie recipes on the blog, head HERE. Some of my favourites in the summertime are this Aloha Smoothie (think tropical island), Orange Julius Smoothie, and these Orange Creamsicle Smoothie Bowls.
The best part of smoothies in the summer is being able to put all that fresh seasonal fruit to work! I keep a tray in my freezer at all times where I add fruit that is past it’s pretty stage to throw it into my next smoothie! I freeze everything you can imagine to blend up including avocados, spinach, berries and veggies like zucchini. It’s a massive help to reduce food waste.
Health Benefits of Cherries
I feel like you don’t hear much about the health benefits of cherries out there, so figured I might as well give you a little taste! Cherries are a great source of vitamin C, potassium, fiber, and other nutrients that your body needs. They are also high in antioxidants and some anti-inflammatory compounds. Basically, they are far from just a pretty face!
Make a Smoothie into a Bowl
This smoothie is GREAT as a bowl too! And it pairs super well with this Dark Chocolate Cherry Granola. A true match made in heaven. Add a bit of ice and a little less milk to the recipe below to make the bowl a bit thicker, and top with the granola and fresh cut cherries.

My husband and I love this recipe! We have an Evans Cherry tree in the yard and this is one of our favorite ways to use them up. We also add a scoop of vanilla protein powder and it makes for a perfect way to start the day!
