Take a classic dish to ANOTHER level with these Everything Bagel Chicken Tenders. Serve it with homemade Honey Mustard for an instant family favourite!
Recently on the blog I made my own Everything Bagel Seasoning. Since then, I have been putting it on anything I can! As a mom, I love switching up tried and true classics with my family, to keep dinners interesting. Oven Baked Chicken Tenders are an easy and delicious dinner, that goes great with a fresh side salad or some Crispy Oven Fries. But it’s time for me to let you in on a secret! Adding Everything Bagel Seasoning to your chicken tender breading mixture is going to be a hit with the kids and a hit with the kid in YOU!
Healthy Oven Baked Chicken Tenders
I know that just grabbing a bag of frozen chicken strips from the freezer can feel like the most convenient route, but I promise with only a few more steps you can get such incredible flavour making your own minus the processed food! I prefer to bake my chicken tenders which still gets them nice and crispy, but skips the mess of frying. With a 400 F oven, I bake chicken strips prepared with a flour, egg and panko mixture (and I dredge in that order too!).
How to Make Honey Mustard Sauce
Great chicken tenders deserve a great dipping sauce! Homemade honey mustard is as easy as mixing 4 ingredients: mayonnaise, honey, dijon mustard and yellow mustard. That’s it people – here’s the recipe! Skip the store-bought and experiment with this at home. If you’re feeling crazy, add a dash of sriracha makes it a HOT honey mustard – you’re welcome!
Why Are Homemade Chicken Tenders Better?
Where to begin! One of the main reasons why making your own homemade chicken tenders is so important is because you’re in CONTROL. You get to choose and control the quality of chicken you use (free-range, organic etc.) and know all the ingredients that are going int the final dish. Next time you’re at the grocery take a look at the (lengthy) ingredient list on a frozen package of chicken strips – most will surprise you!

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 4 eggs
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 1/2 cups panko bread crumb
- 1 tablespoon Everything Bagel Seasoning (or more to taste)
- 3 pounds chicken tenders or chicken breast cut into strips, about ½” thick
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400 F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper (you can alternately place a metal baking rack on each baking sheet, both work
-
In a shallow medium bowl or pie plate, add. the flour and set aside.
-
In a separate shallow medium bowl or pie plate, whisk together the eggs and set aside.
-
To make the panko coating, heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium heat and add the panko bread crumbs and Everything Bagel Seasoning. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon, tossing until the panko is lightly toasted and fragrant, 2-3 minutes. Remove from the heat, place in a third shallow dish and set aside.
-
To assemble the chicken fingers, lightly dredge a piece of chicken on all sides in the flour coating (shaking off the excess), followed by the egg mixture (again on both sides) and then the panko mixture, being sure to lightly press some panko on all sides of the chicken finger. Place the finger on the prepared baking sheet and repeat this process with the remaining chicken fingers until they are all coated.
-
Bake the chicken fingers for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the chicken fingers are golden brown and the internal temperature is 165 F. Remove from the oven and serve immediately!
Recipe Notes
To make these gluten free simply substitute corn starch for the flour and gluten free Panko for the regular Panko crumbs, being careful that all of your other ingredients are free of gluten of course.

Made these last night for dinner. They were a great texture, super crunchy (which we love) but I found they were a little bland despite me using more everything but the bagel seasoning than was called for. We ended up dipping in BBQ sauce as we are not honey mustard people. Love all the other things I’ve tried from you, Tori!

Hey Nicole! Sorry to hear that! We have a note “more to taste” with the bagel seasoning mixture so people can flex for their preferred taste. Maybe a little more next time? Love that it worked with my dipping sauce though! xx Tori
