Meet the Bookie Club! Just imagine if a book club and cookie club had a baby, this would be IT! Together, we will dive into a new book each month AND share a cookie recipe on theme with the book.
Life gets busy (an understatement) – hobbies and self care so often take a back seat! I created this “Bookie Club” as a way to connect, add a bit of delicious fun to your lives, and keep each other accountable to make time for ourselves and dive into that new book… cookie in hand! You can never have too many cookie recipes, right? Keep scrolling for a library of what we’ve been reading, and eating!
How to Join the Bookie Club
Head HERE and sign up for my emails, making sure the “Book & Cookie Club” box is checked! You will need to do this even if you are already on my email list. If you run into any issues just email us at [email protected]!

How Does The Bookie Club Work?
Near the end every month, I will announce a new book on social media for the upcoming month. Then, the last Saturday of every month, I will share an email with the “on theme” cookie recipe, my take on the book, and some thought-provoking questions for you (and your own Bookie Club, if you have one!).
Is There a Cost to Join the Bookie Club?
Nope – unlike most things in life….it’s completely free! No strings attached, I am just excited to read with you all. Can’t wait for you to join!

How Do You Pick The Books?
I ask YOU! I am really passionate about selecting female, Canadian authors whenever possible! Keep your eyes peeled for polls on Instagram asking for your help deciding between books, or send us a message on Instagram with your suggestions!
Bookie Club Library
Meet our ever-growing library of past cookie recipes and book club picks. Enjoy!
- JULY 2023: Our book for the month was Every Summer After by Carley Fortune! I paired this summer read with an epic Moose Tracks Cookie Recipe. As teenagers, Sam and Percy shared many an ice cream cone together: Cotton Candy for Percy and Moose Tracks for Sam. Years later as adults, they sit on the same bench, and enjoy the same flavours of ice cream. It’s not the only thing that hasn’t changed so many years later….

- AUGUST 2023: Our book for the month was Meet Me At The Lake by Canadian author, Carley Fortune (again!). I paired this book with Espresso Shortbread Cookies. Why? While working at a coffee shop, Fern and Will meet. They spend a magical day together and clearly develop an instant strong connection. At the end of the day, they promise to meet a year later at the dock at the lake. That’s a promise one of them keeps and the other breaks…..

- SEPTEMBER 2023: Our book for the month was The Whispers by Ashley Audrain. I paired this book with these Chocolate Crinkle Cookies and even sat down with the author herself here! These cookies are irresistibly chewy on the inside just like your favourite brownie. Their shattered look emulates the broken relationships and deep dark secrets written within the pages of the book….

- OCTOBER 2023: Our book for the month was Mad Honey by Jennifer Finney Boylan and Jodi Picoult! This book is the bees knees if you ask me, and of course, we paired this book with Honey Oatmeal Cookies! I had no idea that ‘mad honey’ was a thing. It is in fact honey that has been contaminated by a specific toxin and has poisonous effects. The novel explores how abuse and violence play out in relationships, and the title Mad Honey appears to be a metaphor for sweet relationships turning toxic….

- NOVEMBER 2023: Our book for the month was Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus and paired it with these adorable Blackberry Pie Cookies. This Lessons in Chemistry website actually features recipes inspired from the book, so I decided to take Elizabeth’s pie recipe and make it into a “cookie” to add a little modern twist. It tastes like the buttery, delicious and recipe you’d expect of the 60’s – the time period of this story. It’s one of my favourites.

- DECEMBER 2023: Our book for the month was It Happened One Christmas, a charming holiday rom-com set in Quebec. Truly, it doesn’t get more quintessential Canadian than maple syrup. With that in mind, I paired this read with these homemade Maple Walnut Cream Cookies!

- JANUARY 2024: Our book for January was Hello Beautiful! A moving portrait of what is possible when we choose to love someone not in spite of who they are. The on-theme recipe may not look beautiful, but its ingredients sure are! In honour of Rose’s garden and Charlie’s daily greeting for his daughters “hello beautiful”, I wanted to create a cookie full of healthy garden goodness that helps you glow from the inside out with these Hello Beautiful Cookies.

- FEBRUARY 2024: Our book of the month was The Seven Year Slip! I was hooked on this love story from the first chapter in this book. The lemon references were clear from the start, so a lemon inspired cookie was a must. I know this is a recipe Clementine would love! These Lemon Cut-Out Cookies feature the best, tangy lemon curd, generously sandwiched between two perfect sugar cookies. They are happiness in cookie form my friends!

- MARCH 2024: Our book of the month was The First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston. This book was one I couldn’t put down….and same goes for the cookie! Inspired by a chapter where Lucca and her mama share a moment of joy over a cinnamon roll, the idea for these Cinnamon Roll Cookies was born!

- APRIL 2024: Our book of the month was The Mystery Guest by Nita Prose. If you have read the book, this cookie recipe should come as no surprise. With tea references steeped throughout this book, the idea for these Earl Grey Cookies was born. The plot, after all, is centred around the mysterious death of a famous writer, who drops dead on the hotel’s tea room floor when his tea was poisoned. Now, these cookies aren’t lethal but they are drop-dead delicious… 😉

- MAY 2024: Our book of the month was Funny Story by Emily Henry. you have read the book, this cookie recipe should do you proud! Personally, I think I nailed the flavour combos here. I took Daphne’s love of a good Chai, and paired it with flavourful gingersnaps because: “That’s what he smells like. Sweet and a little spicy. A natural earthy smell folded into a sugary baked good.” h Miles, he is so loveable! I have to say, the whole falling for her ex fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex, was an entertaining plot. Speaking of falling in love, it’s time to fall head over heels for these Chai Gingersnap Cookies…..

- JUNE 2024: Our book of the month was This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune. Main characters Felix and Lucy had something really special. It was magnetic and as sweet as can be; they were destined to be together. At one point, Lucy even described them together as: “it was slow and lazy and sweet, like warm caramel sauce sliding down a scoop of ice cream.” With that, I created these Brown Butter Salted Caramel Cookies. Sweet, salty, chewy—these cookies have it ALL! If you’re looking for a cookie that satisfies every craving, look no further.
